Carlisle’s 76-year stay in the Football League came to an end in 2004 but succeeded in the 2005 Conference play-off Final and returned immediately.
In the club’s history, they have reached the final of the Football League Trophy six times – more than any other team – and have won it on two occasions in 1997 and 2011.
