Founded over 141 years ago in 1878, Ipswich did not turn professional until 1936 and subsequently joined the Football League in 1938. Ipswich have won the English league title once in their history, which was achieved in their first season in the top flight in 1961/62. They have also won the FA Cup – beating Arsenal in the 1978 final – and the UEFA Cup in 1981.
