Lincoln City History

Founded in 1884, Lincoln have played their home matches at Sincil Bank – a ground with a capacity of over 10,000 – since moving from John O’Gaunts in 1895. When it comes to honours, the Imps do not have an outstanding collection, but there are some notable achievements they have assembled over the years. They have been thrice champions of the Football League Third Division North while finishing runners-up on three separate occasions. The club also have two Football League Fourth Division titles to their name, most recently their League Two 2018/19 campaign where they finished first.

Lincoln have also won the Conference twice in their history, while they were the 2018 Football League Trophy winners after defeating Shrewsbury Town 1-0 in the final at Wembley Stadium. Their highest league finish dates back to the 1901/02 campaign where they finished fifth in the Football League Second Division.

As for the FA Cup, the quarter-finals is the furthest they have reached, and they did so as a non-league outfit in 2016/17, losing to Arsenal in the last eight. Their League Cup outings have not been as successful, reaching the fourth round in the 1967/68 campaign it the best they have done.
