Liverpool FC History

Liverpool have won six European Cups, more than any other English club. Founded in 1892, the red half of Merseyside have been a worldwide success and have achieved greatness over the course of their history.

The Reds are one of the most widely supported teams across the globe. Back in 1964, the team changed from red shirts and white shorts to an all-red home attire – something that has never changed since.

With 18 First Division titles to their name, Liverpool were one of the most successful teams in the competition. However, since emergence of the Premier League in 1992, the Reds have failed to deliver another league title, but that looks to be changing very soon.

Liverpool have also won six European Cups – an English record – and three UEFA Cups, also an English record. With seven FA Cups and eight League Cup trophies, the Reds have endured ample amounts of silverware over the course of their history.

And their most iconic, famous triumph came in 2005. Trailing 3-0 to AC Milan at half time in the Champions League final in Istanbul, it looked as if Liverpool were down and out. However, a comeback inspired by captain Steven Gerrard sent the tie to penalties, where the reds would lift their fifth European Cup.
