Newcastle United, also known as ‘The Magpies’, have a rich 127-year history packed with memorable moments and trophies to go with them. Playing their home matches in front of 52,000 at St James’ Park, the black and white stripes of Newcastle have never dropped below the second tier of English football since joining the league in 1893. The Tyne-Wear derby they share with Sunderland always produces a fiery encounter and has done since 1898.

When it comes to physical accomplishments, the Magpies have won the First Division four times – the latest, though, coming way back in 1927. They’ve also won the Second Division four times along with six FA Cups. However, their last FA Cup triumph was some time ago back in 1955 so the fans will be hoping to change that in the near future.

Other than winning the Championship in the 2016-17 campaign, Newcastle have been deprived of trophies and success in recent history, with their most successful period throughout the early-mid 18th century.
