The club were formed in 1934 and originally joined the Midland League, which they won six times, before being admitted to the Football League in 1960. Their home ground is London Road Stadium – which holds over 15,000 spectators – and they are nicknamed ‘The Posh’. Peterborough have won the fourth tier of English football twice in their history, triumphing in the 1960/61 and 1973/74 campaigns. They have also finished runners-up on two occasions and were play-off winners in 2000, beating Darlington in the Final. Despite never winning the third tier, they have won the play-offs twice – most recently triumphing Huddersfield Town in the 2011 Final – and finished runners-up in the 2008/09 season.

The club’s best FA Cup finish was reaching the quarter-finals back in 1964/65, while their League Cup run stretched to the semi-final the following season and is their best run to date. The Posh also won the Football League Trophy in 2014 after beating Chesterfield in the final 3-1.

Tommy Robson holds the record for most league appearances, featuring 482 times between 1968 and 1981. Jim Hall tops the all-time goalscoring charts, netting 148 times for the club between 1973 and 1977.
