Known for their success with families, Wycombe was awarded the Family Club of the Year award twice in a row in 2006/07 and 2007/08 – the only time that award has been given to the same club in consecutive seasons. The club then received a Football League Family Excellence award after the 2009/10, 2011/12 and 2013/14 campaigns.
Martin O’Neill was a manager who led the club to unprecedented success. They moved into Adams Park in 1990 and one year later, beat Kidderminster Harriers 2-1 in the final of the FA Trophy. Wycombe then narrowly missed out on promotion to the Football League the following season, finishing second on goal difference.
However, the club soon recovered to become only the third team in history to do the non-league double. O’Neill then led the club to fourth in the Third Division and subsequently gained promotion after beating Preston North End 4-2 in the play-off final at Wembley Stadium. Their first season in the Second Division was a success, finishing sixth and then O’Neill left the club.
Wycombe have reached the semi-finals of the FA Cup and League Cup just once in their history, achieved in the 2000/01 and 2006/07 campaigns respectively.
